“Do you write your own material?”
Hey! If we haven’t met before, I’m Lucius Pham. I like seafood, tv shows about politics and the constant pursuit of knowledge. I’m an arms-crossed at the concert kinda guy (not a hater, just anxious) so I usually keep my hands busy with a camera.
Since joining forces in 2019, my camera and I have ended up in some weird places: GZA’s green room; a concert on a moving train, a grain silo in Menlo, IA, with President Joe Biden; Jon Locker’s Guinness World Record guitar solo (complete with over 80 amps); a photoshoot with MAGA rapper Forgiato Blow in downtown Milwaukee during the 2024 Republican National Convention; and several crime scenes.
As a Weekend Music Host (SUNDAYS 9AM-Noon CST on iprstudioone.org) and Video Production Manager at Iowa Public Radio, I’ve made my passion for boosting the careers of emerging artists and documenting my local scene a full-time job. For ipr.org, I cover arts, culture, news and politics in Iowa through stories, photos and video.
My photography has been shared by NPR (Perry shooting protest, Trump in Iowa), Paste Magazine, Forbes.com, Grammy-winner Samara Joy and countless local artists.
If you like conversations, I have a lot of those too: Ginuwine, Andrew Yang, Dionne Warwick, flipturn, David Wain, Armand Hammer, Ted Park, spill tab, McKinley Dixon and pictoria vark, to name a few. You can read all of my IPR stories here!
